“Just to say thank you so much for the workshop on Harris & Lewis, it went beyond my expectations not only in the photography but the standard of accommodation the places you found to ensure we took some truly memorable photos also the way you worked so hard to ensure that everything went well, its the first workshop I’ve been on that ticked all the boxes”

Workshop Detail
The workshop comprises of 7 nights Dinner, bed and breakfast.
This workshop is full on photography, stopping at some of the most iconic landscape photography locations, Scotland has to offer. We start this tour in Glencoe, where meet and begin the photography on the first day. The next day we head off up through the Highlands for a one night stop over on Skye. Taking in the awesome Cuillin mountain range and the amazing Quirang ridge.

The following day after a dawn shoot and breakfast, we head off to catch the ferry over to Harris & Lewis. Here we will spend the week shooting around this awe inspiring island, returning to the Ferry on Friday afternoon.

We will visit the Callanish stones at various times of the day, even at night for the potential of shooting the Milky Way as a spectacular backdrop to these ancient monuments. The Autumn October workshop can also bring the enticing potential of shooting the night sky wonder, that is the Aurora Borealis.

We have another one night stop over stay on Skye, with the chance to shoot some more of the island, before heading back through the Highlands and the hotel base in Glencoe.
Small Workshop Group Size
A large part of my courses are about learning to see where an image is going to develop and looking at the landscape with a new eye for composition. We will also visit new locations that I have photographed over the years and bring exciting new work to your portfolio.

Relaxed approach
All the workshops we run are based on a very relaxed format to make the most of your time and importantly enjoy the beautiful surroundings. I don't chase around the countryside from one location to another. This course is also about learning to slow down and study with your eyes. Understanding what is happening in nature and the weather patterns is a huge part of taking a great photograph. I will show you to use your eye's and resolve the compositional puzzle that is presented at each new location we visit. I will also give you an insight on how to read the weather so you know when to anticipate dynamic light.

Harris & Lewis Workshop Outline Itinerary
We will be staying for 1 night at the Holly Tree Hotel in Kentallen, Glencoe. With great transport links it is easy to meet up to start the workshop. Its also a superb location for the next day as we start with a dawn shoot on Rannoch Moor.

After breakfast we move up to the Isle of Skye for 1 night which will give us chance to bag a couple of Isle of Skye classics on the way to Harris.

4 nights at a hotel in Stornoway on Lewis. Then back to Skye for one night on the Friday, giving us more opportunities to shoot the magical Isle of Skye.
Saturday - Return back through the Highlands to the Hotel to collect your cars in the afternoon.
We will continue the photography through the Highlands.
We will also do a highlights image review on the last evening.
Evening Review and Editing
The evening will include a review of the days photography and editing techniques
in Photoshop and Lightroom 3.

On the sessions you will learn how to take your image to the next level. I will talk you through each stage of the process to the final image, more importantly, I will explain how to take these new skills out into the landscape and increase your vision in front of the camera.
